Equipment Maintenance & Repair Services
Keep your instruments in peak condition from calibration and sensor replacement to full pump and water quality meter overhauls.
Environmental monitoring equipment works in demanding conditions, submerged in groundwater, exposed to contaminants, or running continuous air sampling in the field. When something goes wrong, downtime is costly. A broken instrument means delayed data, missed deadlines, and extra mobilization costs.
That’s why Environmental Equipment + Supply offers comprehensive repair and maintenance services for nearly everything we sell. Our experienced technicians diagnose, repair, and return your instruments quickly so you get back into the field faster and with confidence.

Why Proper Equipment Maintenance Is Non-Negotiable
Environmental professionals depend on their instruments the way surgeons depend on their tools. A miscalibrated pH meter, a clogged submersible pump, or a gas detector with a failing sensor can invalidate an entire day’s data or worse, create a safety hazard on-site.
Regulatory agencies increasingly scrutinize the QA/QC documentation behind field data. Most manufacturers establish required calibration intervals that, if not followed, can void warranties and compromise data defensibility. In industries where data can influence remediation decisions worth millions of dollars, the integrity of your instruments is inseparable from the integrity of your work.
Beyond compliance, routine maintenance simply extends equipment life. A 2-inch MP1 sampling pump that receives regular motor inspections and cable replacements can last many years beyond one that’s run to failure. The economics almost always favor proactive service over reactive emergency repairs.
Key Benefits of Regular Maintenance:
- Data Defensibility: Calibrated, well-maintained instruments produce data that holds up under regulatory and legal scrutiny.
- Reduced Downtime: Timely repairs mean less time waiting for equipment and more time collecting the data you need.
- Field Safety: Air monitors with compromised sensors are a serious hazard in confined spaces and contaminated environments.
- Cost Efficiency: Proactive maintenance prevents catastrophic failures and extends the service life of expensive instruments.

Environmental Equipment + Supply Repair Services: A Closer Look
Environmental Equipment + Supply handles both off-warranty repairs for nearly everything we sell. Our technicians are trained and experienced across a wide range of environmental monitoring equipment categories.
Portable Air Quality Equipment Service
Portable air quality instruments, multi-gas detectors, photoionization detectors (PIDs), and single-gas monitors, are workhorses on environmental and industrial job sites. They generally require relatively little maintenance outside of routine calibrations and bump checks.
A bump check confirms that a sensor responds to a target gas, while a full calibration sets the instrument’s response curve against a known concentration standard. Most manufacturers specify calibration intervals ranging from daily to monthly, depending on the instrument and the regulatory environment. Skipping these intervals can void your warranty and, more critically, give you false confidence in a potentially dangerous environment.
When issues go beyond calibration such as a failed sensor, damaged display, or communication error, contact Environmental Equipment + Supply. We perform sensor replacements and more complex repairs. Manufacturers we service include:
- RKI Instruments
- Honeywell
- RAE Systems
- MSA Safety
- Bascom Turner
2-Inch MP1 Pump Service
The 2-inch MP1 submersible pump is a staple of groundwater sampling programs across North America. Designed for low-flow and purge sampling, these pumps are robust but not immune to wear, especially in contaminated or heavily mineralized groundwater environments.
Environmental Equipment + Supply has over 20 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing MP1 pumps. Common issues include motor wear from running dry, cable damage from repeated deployment and retrieval, and pump-end fouling from sediment or iron bacteria. Our technicians perform thorough pump and motor inspections and cable replacements, restoring your pump to reliable, field-ready condition.
Portable Water Quality Meter Service
Multi-parameter water quality instruments measure parameters like pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, and temperature, often simultaneously, making them indispensable for groundwater and surface water monitoring. When sensors drift or probes fail, the resulting data can be misleading and scientifically indefensible.
Environmental Equipment + Supply specializes in the troubleshooting and repair of YSI and Horiba multi-parameter instruments. We stock a range of calibration solutions in-house, including:
- pH 4, pH 7, and pH 10 buffer solutions
- 1413 µS/cm conductivity calibration solution

The Repair Process — Simple & Transparent
Getting your repair started is straightforward. Here’s how the process works from start to finish:
Step 1 — Download the RMA Form
Download and complete our Return Material Authorization (RMA) form — one form per instrument — and email it to [email protected].
Step 2 — Get Your RMA Number
A member of our repair team will contact you to collect the initial evaluation payment and assign your RMA number. Note: Equipment will not be accepted for repair without an RMA number.
Step 3 — Ship Your Equipment
Write the RMA number on the outside of the box and ship your equipment to our facility. Detailed packing and shipping instructions are included on the RMA form.
Step 4 — Evaluation & Update
Our technicians assess your equipment and contact you with their findings, recommended repairs, and estimated costs before any work begins.
Step 5 — Repair & Return
Upon your approval, we complete the repair and return your instrument in working order. The evaluation fee rolls into the repair cost so you only pay once if a repair is needed.
Important: Equipment will not be accepted for repair without a valid RMA number. Complete the RMA form and wait to receive your number before shipping anything to our facility.

Tips for Maximizing Instrument Longevity
- Rinse and dry probes after every use. Residual contaminants, saltwater, or iron-rich water left on sensor probes accelerates fouling and corrosion. A quick rinse with deionized water and a soft cloth goes a long way.
- Store air monitors in clean, temperate conditions. Electrochemical sensors have a finite lifespan accelerated by high humidity, extreme temperatures, and chemical vapors. Follow manufacturer bump check schedules. Even if you’re confident in your detector’s calibration, bump checks before each shift are the industry standard and in many applications, a regulatory requirement.
- Keep a calibration log. Document every calibration with date, standards used, technician name, and results. This log is essential if your data is ever challenged in a regulatory or legal context.
- Know when to call for help. Attempting to repair a sophisticated instrument without the right tools and training can void warranties and cause further damage. When in doubt, send it to Environmental Equipment + Supply.

Why Environmental Professionals Trust Environmental Equipment + Supply Repairs
We’ve been in the environmental equipment business for decades, and repair and maintenance have always been core to what we do — not an afterthought. We understand that when you send equipment in for repair, you’re trusting us with tools that your entire project schedule may depend on.
That’s why we prioritize clear communication throughout the repair process. You’ll never receive a surprise bill. Before any repair work is performed, you receive a full estimate and your approval is required. The nominal evaluation fee is simply rolled into the cost of the repair if work is needed. If no repair is necessary, the evaluation is the only cost.
We also maintain an in-house inventory of commonly needed calibration solutions and replacement components, which means faster turnaround times. Whether you’re a one-person consulting firm or a large environmental contractor managing a fleet of instruments, Environmental Equipment + Supply provides the same quality service and attention to detail.
